The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue to work in normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

During this partial government shutdown, the 88th Medical Group remains open and continues to honor scheduled medical and dental appointments. Our appointment line is open and we are still taking requests for appointments. Our operating room, primary care and specialty care clinics are fully operational. Ancillary services (pharmacy, laboratory, radiology) are also operating normally. As always, safe and high-quality health care remain our priority and we are doing our best to minimize impact on our beneficiaries and their health care during this partial government shutdown. Air Force’s second-largest medical center delivers premier care

​WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — The 88th Medical Group remains on the cutting edge of health care services and technology as a role model for other military medical centers worldwide.

Estabrook Road on Area A, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was named after Brig. Gen. Merrick Estabrook Jr., July 12, 2022. Estabrook was commander of both Patterson Field and Fairfield Air Depot from 1939 to 1943. The road runs from Wright-Patterson Medical Center to Turtle Pond.

Over 70 complete residency program requirements

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force’s Graduate Medical Education Program conferred degrees upon 71 Airmen during its annual spring residency graduation May 27 in a hangar at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center is available to accept new patients 24/7 all year round to ensure proper health care is available for those qualified to use their facilities. Those qualified to use the medical group include all active duty personnel and their dependents, retirees in the local area.
